I received mine yesterday.

First impressions? The stock feels...meh. It's plastic. It doesn't feel as cheap as the Norinco M305 plastic stock, but it's plastic nonetheless. The finish is good. There is already some marring and discoloration on the business end of the bolt and by the receiving end of the receiver. No big deal though. The action isn't as smooth as I was expecting. It feels like a $600 gun so far. I certainly wouldn't compare it to the Tikka T3 Hunter I recently had the pleasure of fondling. Having said that, I can't wait to go try it out.

Upon taking a look at the base, it's engraved with EGW 109150. According to some Googling, people are saying it's EGW Part #4100, which is the 0 MOA base. This doesn't really matter to me at the moment because I probably won't be shooting any further than 500 for a while.

I must say, having fiddled with it for a few minutes, the bolt doesn't impress me. It's got quite a bit of play in it and it jams up. It's not smooth at all. I find even my Savage Mark II is smoother than this. It's starting to feel less like the $600 rifle I first unboxed.

Received mine today and I agree with your comments. It's ok. Lugs on the bolt a discolored and the action is not smooth. Will need some polishing to smooth it out. I also have a Remington 700 SPS. The action on the Remington is much nicer and the rifle was less expensive (I paid $550 new). Of course, it doesn't have the threaded barrel or removalable mag.
I also have another Savage bolt action, LRH 111. Polished bolt is slick, slick, slick. Really nice! I'd swear these were not made by the same company. All in all it's a $5-600 rifle though I suspect a few folks here will disagree:)

Received mine today. All-in-all, its a very nice little rifle for the price of $599. I can't wait to gets some optics mounted, maybe a muzzle brake, and try her out.

I also bought a TAPCO Intrafuse stock kit for my SKS. Like that too.

I agree, i found some of the bluing hit or miss on the bolt"Action" Some scratches but the barrels bluing is fine. Overall in looks departmet it kinda does fit the price but this rifle does shoot like a 1k plus rifle.

Because some people want what they can't have (Mil/LE only versions of stuff, body armor, night vision, LaRue, etc).

So they'll pay a premium to get it.

Bit of a sidebar question. If this rifle costs $599 new, why are people selling it for $850+ in the EE?

I can't speak for everyone, but mine cost me 675$ to my door (po box), tack on 25-30$ to ship it again and you're at 700 right away. The markup well that's the owners business. But nobody got huffy when the "free" AK-74's were sold for over 1k$ on the EE.

Are we still talking about this, wasn't it all sorted out a few pages back, haha!

Has anyone mounted an Atlas Bipod on their 10TR I'm curious on how easy it would be to install a picatiny rail in place of the sling studs? I haven't taken the gun off the stock yet but can you just take the studs out and fastened a rail in its place?

The fronts studs can be removed,....easily. Just unthread them. I am sure a slight stock contoured rail would fit in there place.

anyone using a vortex viper pst scope on theirs? i'm looking at getting a 6-24x power but i'm unsure what height rings i should be running with this.

Get the lows, prob need a cheek riser regardless. I used the atrs low rings. Also put on a tac pro cheek riser on.

I agree, lows will probably be your best bet. I have a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x and am using medium rings but there is definitely enough clearance that lows will be fine.
