Follow all of the directions...

Send your forms in now, just don't check the box saying you have provided proof you passed the course, include a cover letter stating exam results will follow. Then fax your CFO results in when they come in. Doing it this way will initiate your 28 day wait period.

If you end up experiencing an issue like I did (CFO results taking 2 months +2 weeks) you will be waiting an insane amount of time.

Mailed my RPAL application today, registered mail of course. Should be interesting to find out how long it'll take. Fingers crossed.

Good stuff! I sent mine registered too. Sent on Mon Nov 15,2010 was there on Thurs Nov 18, 2010. I believe it showed up on the RCMP webpage the following week?

OK, I'm confused. I just got off the phone with CFC and was told that they are finished with my application and it is now with the CFO in Ontario for final approval.

He then went on to say that the 28 day waiting period does apply even for an upgrade! WTF?? I asked if he was sure and he said yes, "it's a system thing"

Thoughts, suggestions?

Probably just so they have another excuse to take their sweet time. I am on day 42 now for an upgrade. The CFC went quick, i was called the week after they got my app (give or take a few days for Christmas/New Year). CFO seems to be the hold up.

As quoted above:
"If you are renewing a PAL or "upgrading" from a POL or a PAL there is no 28 day waiting period."

Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued.

:runaway: OMG! OMG! :D Whooooooo! WHooooo! :runaway:

My 2nd ref finished their self initiated interview @ 3:30PM. I come home, check the RCMP web page and look what I see!

Licence Application Status Results

Application Number: xx-#########x-xx

Application Received on: 2010/11/18

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

What I can positively add to this thread is the fact everyone's process will be different. And confirm all suggestions in the original post are safe to follow. Do not be afraid to send in your forms (in Ontario) before you get the stamped results. My interview was a lot of No, No, No, No, Yes I kill babies. I mean no. And asked me what do I want the license for. Painless experience other than the wait.

Congrats! That second interview must have been something special!! ;)

Well you are the winner of the class of Nov. 13/14. Now get out there and start spending!!

I told them not to initiate anything, simply answer their questions. They didnt listen... "He is soo excited to get in to his new hobbie!" they told the rep. So get your ref to say that! :D
The most awesome thing is my license will have a pic of me with fresh scope bite from my Dad's Rem 870. Now it's just a scar.

That is too funny. :D

I found out after it was too late that one of my references is anti-gun. She claims she didnt say anything stupid but with my luck she probably blurted out her objections and put the kibosh on the whole thing

I've been checking Canada Post's website all day tracking my application. So far it's not left the post office. According to the tracking system at least.

:(

It's going to be a loooong few weeks.

question!

i sent my application in a while ago and my gf(see spouse) was not here to sign the paper. she will be out of country for atleast another month. I recieved a letter addressed to her, from the rcmp stating that she is being notified that i am applying for a firearms licence blahblah.

ok, now at the end of said letter it states to please call in by feb 22nd if she has any concerns about my application or her safety. i called her and asked her to call in but she says that her schedule is super busy and won't be able to call in at the hours that the cfc is open (overseas).

my question is, will they drop my application due to her lack of signature or will this simply delay the process? my brother who is single, got his interviews today even though i mailed my app a week before he did. if its a simple delay its no big deal, i'll just have him acquire the firearms i like, and i'll go shooting with him until my app is ready then transfer.
