Shorten PAL Approval Times

You second question relates to the first. As far as I've seen, every application goes online and is corrected/ammended from there. Once you see it online, you can call and correct your info. In Ontario, that's around 11-14 days after they receive it. The clock starts ticking from the day they receive it though... so don't worry yet. Once you see it online, call in. "Hi there, Mr. Vancouver here. Calling to make sure you receive all the required documents. I also need to correct my Postal code, I put a '1' instead of a '2' for the last digit, sorry about that."



Because he's renewing, not awaiting a new license. Same as your drivers license; You get a M1, it expires. Walk back in, you can write M1, pass it, and write/ride for M2 immediately because you've already done the wait period. Done it myself.

Just got my stamped marks today in mail took course Jan 8th, 30 day wait time for me... Got paper work for application all filled out will put in mail with marks and photo, Now the wait begins Dave
 
Absolutely call the CFO for ontario when it gets sent to them. They are a month + back logged and you will wait for months. I called, had my license in hand 35 days after they received my app.

Congrats, that was quick!

I completed my PAL and RPAL course Dec 4th and 5th, mailed it in a couple days later.

Still waiting. My ex refused to sign my form out of spite I'm assuming so that drastically prolonged this for me.

She's been contacted (told me she told them she has no concerns) and so have my references.

Looks like I have to call and see what the hold up is.

EDIT: Just called in and spoke to a lady there, she says the application is with my CFO waiting for approval. I asked if there was anything I could do to speed things up and she said all I can do is wait at this point.

Should I call my CFO (BC)? If so, what do I say?

Jeez I wish I had advice for you. I was just gearing up to call my CFO to see if it was all ok when I found out it was already approved. I was very surprised. It couldn't hurt to call and just be polite and ask.

I'm pulling for ya. :) Hope you get it soon.

How do I get a hold of our CFO here in BC?

Is it through the toll free 1-800 number listed in the OP's post?
 
Hmmm, I found this link. It says the BC CFO number is Tel: (604) 586-2562

I have never called it though. But it looks right.

I don't know why they would be holding you up. I had to check yes on the divorce box. I attached a sheet and she seemed happy.

I hope you get it sorted.

Thanks for looking that up. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what's going on!

Donzi, wrote my PAL on the 8th of January, and received my stamped results back yesterday. My wife did not receive hers yet. Still awaiting the RPAL results that were sent in a week later...........getting closer!
 
They are pretty fast. If it wasn't for the mandatory 28 days, they could get you your license in less than 17 days.

I did my courses of pal and rpal on jan 7th.
They received app on Jan 23rd.
All interviews were done on Feb 8th.
Palls approved on Feb 9th.
Just waiting now for 28 days to pass.

I'm guessing that in total I probably called them 5 times till I got my interview and then the same day I got my phone interview I got my 2 references to call and voila!

Thanks to this thread and the op. Great job as usual guys!!

Btw, I asked for my Pal # as the lady told me it was approved and she said they don't give the Pal #'s over the phone.

Update. Feb. 20th 2012- Online check shows licence issued. That's fast. Most of the people who work in those depts are processing things nicely!! I can't wait to buy my first SKS...yeah!

Ok, so today my application status is up online. I am a little concerned about this though:

Current Status: Your application has been received. It is currently being processed. You have been, or will be contacted either by phone or by mail for additional information. Please check the status again at a later date.

I am in Ontario, and I sent the application in without the results - is that why it mentions contacting me for additional information?
 
I wouldn't be too concerned. Send in your results when you get them, give it a couple days and check the status again.

From what I've heard/read they don't bother doing any work on your application until they receive your results.

Once you mail your results and it doesn't change after a week or so give them a call and see what's up.
 
I think that's the standard entry on their system. Mine showed up on the online checker today as well and I get the same message. My application was complete with test results.

uberkermit I had/have this too but I also forgot to check something on my application.. but I called in and fixed it over the phone
 
I re did my pal acouple of years ago. I waited five months before finally contacting my mpp. I then recieved it three days later, The mpps office told me it was just sitting in the que on someones desk.
 
yay for me... got my test results in the mail today... and about 30 seconds later they were faxed... I can feel it.. pretty soon I'll be shooting..... *pew pew*
 
Hey i have a question about mailing the application, I went and upgraded my pal to an rpal, on those mailing packages we get that have the little envelope you fold up your application and mail off to them, I put a stamp on it and mailed it off, I remember it has the CFC's address on it, but I didn't put my return address on it, I think I remember seeing something printed on the corner where you would normally put your return address. Will it make it there if you dont have your return address on there?
