Shorten PAL Approval Times

The fax number in the first post is correct, it's tough to get through sometimes. Might as well wait for your application number to show up online, then put it on your fax. It won't cost any extra time that way, and the fax might be less likely to be lost.

Quick update on my status (yes it is a ''monday rant'' too)

I'm 52 days in, since they got my application in N-B, so September 12 is day zero. It arrived in Quebec CFO on October 15th where its been sitting since then... I called today (October 28th) to see where its at nicely, no pressure, I just asked if their was a number I could give my references so they can call in since they have abnormals working schedules (they're both cops).
I was then told to just wait til they call me for interview then to tell my references to call. that I shouldn't call until they call me in about a month and she put a lot of emphasis on the ''do not call until you get called''.

So I still told her about the 45 days ''average'' and then she mentionned that it was for regular PAL, that RPAL required longer delays BECAUSE !! And again to stop calling until they call you. She then explained to me that after the interviews they had to print the ''little platic card'' and that is litteraly what she said. I did also mentionned that I had friend that got theirs in less than 45 days, that were first time licence and RPAL and to that one she said : well I'm not interested in their case, they already got theirs... REALLY !?!?! Thats why I'm calling you, to get things moving !!!

This whole phone call lasted maybe 5-10 minutes and during this ''interview'' I had the impression that she didn't want to help me at all and I had this ''gotta hang up something's burning BYE!!!'' feeling. I did call at 15h30 so maybe she was pissed off she might do overpaid paperpusher overtime... But yeah she was rude and pissed me off !!

So basically I won't see this licence until december IF I'm lucky... I'm in no hurry to get my licence but really, like its been said here so many times, there is absolutly NO REASONS a law abiding citizen, no criminal records, should have to wait an undefined period of time to get a piece of plastic issued by desk jockeys that probably don't even have this piece of plastic. Its not like we're paying for the damn thing... Oh yeah we do actually !!! Here is some maths :

-CFSC: 77$
-CRFSC: 77$
-LOI9(QC ONLY): 40$ +20$ gun/ammo rental
-Pictures: 10$
-Actual RPAL fees : 80$
-Sending it: 12$

So 316.00$ to get a ''wait until we call you''... If that thing was actually free I would almost understand, but the fact that we have to pay for mandatory courses and others fees pisses me off... Still got to pay for range membership AND insurance rounds up to 170$ on top of it... Still not shooting anything that I personnaly own. Its paid for but its waiting for me to get the ''little plastic card''
Until then I'll keep using automatic assault rifle and other prohibited firearms at work, with no licence like I've been doing for the last 10 years because it's my job lol

52 days and counting

On a side note, anyway we can complain about CFO's ? I got her name :p

Called in and did my interview. Now I'm driving over to my reference's office and getting him to call in and do his interview! Then onto the next guy :) Mission Time!
Application Received August 24th
Interviewed October 24th.
Hoping that its issued within a couple of days :)
Second Interview was done on Friday! :)
Called in Today to see if anything had changed (checked the website first)
Lady said that it's now with the Ontario CFO, and that they may do a final background check before issuing the license.
When I asked how long that normally takes, she said that she can't say. It could be a few days, or weeks. Got the standard answer of 'wait a week or so and call in again'... Blah.
Anyone have a semi-accurate educated guess as to how long this final stage takes?

Called the cfo office in Ontario earlier today. Receptionist tried passing me through but their line was very busy. Was asked to leave name and number and someone will call me back. They called back in 30 min. The gentlemen I spoke to said he will inform the officer that's working on my file that I called to inquire on the status of my application. Within 2 hours status changed to issued. 63 days from received to issues for restricted.

The number listed on the RCMP's website for the Ontario CFO is the same number to call in and check on your application. Is there some specific extension or another number that we can call?

Hello Everyone I had a Question

I sent in my application For my PAL/RPAL Registered mail and it was received on October 4th. It is not October 28th and I the information in still not online, Like it says that their is no information and to try back another day.

Now it has been 3 weeks, I know their is no guaranteed time for it to show up online but Does this mean that I should continue to wait or call them.

Any Help would be appreciated

Thanks

Wait till the cheque clears or visa charged. That's the first thing that will happen. A couple days after your cc is charged give them a call. At that point you will be partially in the system

Ok that is the problem, the credit card that I used was compromised and I had to cancel it, that Is the biggest reason that I want to see it in the system so I can call right away to give them the new Credit card info.

What you think?

I don't know if they'll let you do that but who knows. If that's the case I'd call weekly trying to see if they've entered any of your info and try to get them the new #

It's absurd and stupid lol

ins cheaper via NFA or CSSA etc

Well I sent my application early September, they cashed my money about 10 days ago... So I was just wondering if I would get it before X-mas???

Sent my rpal application out third week of July. Just had phone interview October 23. Not in a big hurry so never phoned In and just thought I'd wait and see how long it would take. About 90 days to interview guess I went behind everyone who phones in. By the way it only took them about 3 weeks to charge my visa. :)

Phone on Monday and try to get your interview done (if it's an RPAL). Once you do your interview get your references to call. Then you should be approved sometime in November with a 7-10 day mailing time. Hard to narrow down a time frame but in your hands id say end November to mid December.

I mailed my PAL application by express post and they received it on oct 25th.

Called them up just to be sure and they said they had a 4 week backlog in applications, told me it would be another month before its even in the system.

Does this mean I'll get it in around 45 days or ?
