The 1st. No.1 I ordered in back '78 was in .22-250 and the wood was beautifully figured, but the bugger arrived at the shop with the crack running from the receiver well down through the wrist. Sadly,(Kinda) I had to pass on that puppy and bought a B78 Browning in 25-06 that worked out rather well fer me back then. I really wish that Ruger had showed up in proper shape though.:(

I am partial to the Alexander Henry rifles, the "A" being the sleekest and best balanced, but personally I like them with the 22" barrel, it puts the balance point right where it should be for carrying and shouldering. Of course the RSI's are pretty sweet little rifles also, and my first choice for a walk in the woods.
 
To each their own. :)

I'd like to see Ruger do something like this instead with the #1A w/o the tang sight. The 25" bbl would still be short overall.

I wouldn't trade the AH for the ebony forend tip, but an ebony AH would be the bomb!
 
All my photobucket pics are gone so I figured I'd put this one up again even though it is a #3 not a #1- this is the one that prompted Clay to get Ruger to briing out the No.1 in .303 Brit.
Many of us were hoping however too see an RSI, but the 1A is still nice!!
All wood and metal work by leeper except the Kipplinger trigger and the checkering , the checkering was done by Dennis Davidson

I've sold all my #1's save one: a .300H&H. I figured that one...in the most graceful and attractive of all the various #1 configurations, a 26-inch barrel and AH fore-end...would be the be-all and end-all of my #1 holdings. I just couldn't see what they would bring out to tempt me to buy another one.

Then they brought out that stubby little .44mag...sigh...
 
Well I have been on a Ruger No1 buying spree the last few months.. nothing too out of the ordinary but did manage to pick this one up today.

What I believe is an AB in 7x57. Manufactured in 1981. Was never much of a 7x57 fan, but this one will get some use this fall.

It's a shame the first few hundred posts in the thread had pictures posted with photo bucket.. would have been nice to see them.

those stubby 44s look quite good with such a fat barrel contour!

I have the #1 bug back and am totin my 303 around for the next week chasing fallow deer in the hills... id love to find a good shooter buck with it!
 
1 of 1000 Lyman Commerative 1878-1978 . Scope is serial number matched to the rifle. Rifle has photo engraving. There were also 100 produced with hand engraving. Inside the fitted case is a set of dies, 20ety brass, a mold, cleaning rod, book ,and medallion. CALIBER 45-70.
Not ultra rare but certainly uncommon, especially here in Canada. 28 " D Weight barrel . 9.3 lbs without the scope.
