Sig550 Vs Xcr

good point green tips. I hate heavy guns too. I want a pencil barrel for my xcr. I personall see a spring loaded ejector as a weak point. The 8 lugs are tiny, and will break easier than a beefier one.

I love my ar, I hate cleaning it though. If it was non restricted, and had a piston, I probably would use it a lot more

That being said, it is the XCR bashing that I think is undeserved. For a rifle that is positioned in all terms between a SIG (nice, reliable and expensive) and an AR (cheap, light) I think the XCR has positioned itself perfectly. It is a step up from the ARs and significantly cheaper than the SIGs. The bashing is undeserved. I will be buying another one when the XCR-M come out.


Beltfed: Of course you can flip the rifle on it's side as well, but now you are breaking eye lock and are repositioning the rifle. You disagree that for righty's (the majority) that a left sided charging handle is simply a better design?

The upper is acutally an extrusion tube, but so is the FN SCAR and all the rails outthere. :p

I think Wolverine ordered the heavy profile thinking that it will be more accurate for people that do group size masturbation.:D

perhaps the added weight is so that you can use it as a club if all else fails?

To be honest, I used to have a M96 - I am kinda fond of it even though it was a bit front heavy. I like the old school stoner look.

I must say Magpul got the right idea of a modulus magwell that can use combloc 5.45 and 7.62 magazines.

If the M96 wasnt such a POS I would buy 5 of them> I like the look and design of the Stoner stuff as well.
 
when I bought my ar a few years ago, I bought an hbar. My xcr has one too. My lightest gun by far is the cz858. Even my chopped m305 is easier to luv around than the hbars

So, are you saying I should do a complete tear-down and re-assembly of guns I buy before I put rounds through them?

Here's a hint: Those threads about guns busting during courses are likely told by people with real world experience with firearms. . . .you know, ones that would use said course for their line of profession. The ones where you read about people calling others 'stoopid with two "o"s' are highly likely to be 'anecdotal'. Stoopid, but anecdotal all the same.;)

Getting back to the root of the issue though, selection of firearms is always a very personal choice. There are no wrong choices, as the only person you have to ultimately please is yourself!

Guys who own XCRs are entitled to like/love their rifles, just as Swiss Arms or AR enthusiasts are as well. Everyone has different tastes, likes/dislikes, requirements and budgets. As I said before, you don't have to tear down one gun just because you like another type/model/brand. Each to his/her own & good shooting all 'round! :)

Yes, the 229 is built in the US. I would have thought the durability (vs price) would have been higher on a quality branded firearm. The reason for the delay in sending a new part was given as a manufacturing hold on that part. Guess it's better to make more on a new firearm than fix one that was already bought :)

My reason for buying the XCR is that it's non-restricted and at the upper band of what I am willing to pay for something to use at a 3-gun/tac rifle/service rifle match as well as take hiking. By many accounts, it's 'reliable' and accurate with similar ergonomics and parts shared with the AR.

I don't dislike the SIG/AR and would love to own one of each if that was reasonable to financially. My girlfriend is buying an AR so I will always be able to try it out side-by-side for the type of shooting we will encounter (much like her Glock stood up to a BB class where my SIG broke).

I like the bashing back and forth that goes on here as you tend to find the truth of the matter between both extremes.

YES. Anyone that does not do a complete inspection/assembly/dissasembly/lube of their NIB firearms deserves any trouble they get.

Every manufacturer has had problems on the odd run, or a bad supplier's run. To not do this is foolish.
