SR22 Rifle Questions

My understanding is that the crush washer or peel washer(s) are just to index the flash hider. In other words: to align the holes/slots so that they are pointing in the right direction. Many flash hiders are symmetrical and this is not necessary. My A2 flashider has slots that should be facing UP and a blank area that should be facing DOWN. However if I just screw it on, without a washer, the slots point sideways.

Nice looking SR-22 by the way. The shroud looks great.

Do you want one with slots all the way around? I can send one out your way for the postage.

So I am curious regarding barrel lengths as I like some of the AR-ish SR-22's I have seen in this thread. What is the shortest barrel length I could go with and still be legally in the non-restricted category in regards to specifications?

There is no minimum barrel length as long as it is a factory barrel that has not been cut down. If you have a folding or telescoping stock the overall length in the shortest configuration must be at least 26" to remain NR.

Which as usual makes no sense at all but is true. I still can't get an answer out of them as to what length a fixed stock has to have behind the trigger guard to be legally considered a "stock". I was told I could legally "adjust" the LOP of a fixed stock but he wouldn't or couldn't tell me what the minimum LOP is though.

TEG, After you left I installed the TC stock and started on the Savage stock. Sorry we didn't get a lot of shooting in.

So I could buy a 12.5", or if I wanted to get crazy, a 8" Dlask barrel for a SR-22 and it would still be a legal non-restricted rifle as long as my stock was adjusted to have the overall length of the rifle 26"+?

SR-22 Build Update

I am still missing a few parts, and I am still undecided about the front hand guard length and number of rails, but here it is with the MFT stock and Miad grip:

The MFT stock is becoming my favourite, and it doesn't break the wallet.

I like the longer HG with iron sights. I think the longer you have between front & rear sights, the easier it is to aim. I would not bother with rails for a 'loaner' gun either, unless it was a bottom raid to attach a bipod to

I am leaning towards the full length hand guard with just the top rail as shown in the last picture. I find it lighter and more comfortable to shoot without the side and bottom rails. Plus, as you said, the longer sight radius is a good thing.

Thanks LM, but I already have one in the mail, on it is way to me, from a CGN member in Ontario. I also just got a good deal on a very lightly used Kidd single stage trigger assembly that arrived in the mail yesterday along with the buffer tube for the SR-22 shown above. However I will not be putting the Kidd trigger in this build. It may end up in my "pocket rifle" SBR build, but I have not decided yet.
Cheers

Gentlemen... in case any of you are interested and have access to the Equipment Exchange... Mine is up now for your consideration.... Thanks for looking!

LM; Good luck with your sale. If my experience is anything to go by, you may be better off parting the SR-22 out.

Yeah I know... I just couldn't chop her though... 3 months putting the damb thing together! That and I don't really want to sell it... so giving those without either the know how or the desire/time the opportunity to own the best SBR 10/22 money can buy... shipped right to your door ready to go.

Here's my kick at the cat
10 inch barrel. 110 round drum mag no stoppages. Mixed ammo
Prs Stock helps balance it out. Tried aA2 stock. It seem too light.
Fun to shoot. Trigger finger actually Gets tired.
