STOWAWAY Rifle from Dark Mountain Arms

A different rifle receiver would address the issue. Would the US manufacturer would be prepared to go to this length for the limited Canadian market?
This is why some revolving carbines are non-restricted while others were classified as restricted. Different receivers for N-R.
What about Browning Buckmark 22LR rifle ?

Would that not fall under easily converted ?

Apparently not.
Using the hacksaw definition, any firearm could be prohibited for being sawed off.
Anyway, Browning used a purpose built receiver for the carbine.
With respect to the rifle featured in this thread, I assume the receiver is the cylindrical bolt action unit, and not the grip frame. Rifle or pistol version uses the same receiver, with a different grip unit.

So how does something like the Ruger 10/22 / Charger manage to be both a rifle or a pistol?
My guess is the RCMP would claim that the 10/22 was manufactured first and therefore the Charger is a variant of the rifle. In the case of the stowaway, they would likely argue that the rifle is a variant of the handgun.

Seems like horse####, and Marstar should challenge as the Stowaway Rifle and Pistol are being marketed as separate non-interchangeable firearms.

The rules are getting impossible to understand.

It's like playing Monopoly with a 3 year old.

Damn, I feel like a dummy now for proactively buying 5.7x28 reloading components and dies because of this rifle.

Anyone aware of any non-restricted firearms chambered in this cartridge?

Man, this news sucks.

My 8 year old son and I have just gotten into shoot lots together, he's taken a real interest in it. he has a little Henry single shot 22 and this fall he's been wanting to get something bigger. So I was going to get a sub 2k rifle for Xmas that we can shoot but they got banned, so after a bit of thinking about that i saw this rifle and thought perfect, this will do, it doesn't need to be semi but it needs to be less then 4 pounds. I was going to order one the day they came in then I wake up to this news.

I honestly think the only thing left is a single shot 410 in the sub 4 pound category

I understand that reply from the CFP means they consider it a "Handgun".

If a handgun, always a handgun.
Would need to be different receiver for a "Rifle" version meaning a completely different firearm.

Not fun news, but yup... adds to the pile of pressure for change in the laws.
This is most likely demonstrably not true though, based on other classifications.

Does the 9" Mares Leg that is classed as a handgun use a different receiver from the 12" Mares Leg? I have seen no evidence they are different.
