The AK- SKS kit ( little update post 440 2015-03-19)( less ABS more wood and metal)

mag release v2 closer to the mag than the v1 from the video ,

probably shooting test #2 Saturday , installed my trunnion v2 this morning my first impression are it should run perfectly now , the spring seat perfectly in his hole on the trunion
 
well maybe , will have like an ak dust cover , and a type 81 dust cover , just for the look i cna probably add that , but that still one more piece to make or source
 
How much weight does the 3D printed version ad vs basic sks? And do you find the balance of the gun is altered? I find the TAPCO stock makes it seem very muzzle heavy, but it feels much better balance with the original wood stock.

right now the balance of the rifle is right in the middle of the mag well with 3d printed stock and parts , with wood and metal it can change but not so much i think

the timbersmith look nice but not cheap ...
 
Well now, i always wondered if it was possible to make an SKS look like an AK and i wonder why i never stumbled onto this thread!

How close do you think your custom receiver will be able to look like a real AK?
I know this is like version 1.0 but i already see some things way off like the top cover and the lack of selector on the side.

Heck, even if the selector doesn't work i'm sure poeple would love it :)

Altough you are obviously limited by the gap between the mag and the trigger guard and the different shape of the bolt, the closest it will look, the better!

the version 1.2 or 2.0 the receiver will change a little , but the cover will be the big change , some want a t81 look alike and other an Ak , dont worry i dont forget the 2
 
That was a good wee outing mate!
The SKS feels comfortable and is pretty light in that stock,with a little tweaking Dad is onto a winner with this.
