I wanted to add dancing banana's to the reference to banana clips, just did not push my luck...:dancingbanana:

I wonder what Mauser one would use to build a .375 Ruger on? I may do just that, or simply go buy an Alaskan.

42 to go.

I would recommend a commercial Mauser 98 action. These would include FN's, Browning FN, JC Higgins M50(FN), Zastava(Interarms, Charles Daly, Remington M798). A commercial action will come scope ready(ie drilled and tapped, low bolt handle and low safety). Make sure the magazine box is .30-06 length(3.4"). I used a JC Higgins that started life as a .270 Winchester.

Decent military 98's are suitable but need to be modified to accommodate a scope so there's some extra cost there. Another issue with a military is the bottom metal. Often the magazine box has been made to fit shorter military ammo(8X57). Also the trigger-guard need thinning and narrowing for a nicer look and the guard screw lock screw holes need to be filled.

Thanks guys, I've been toying with the idea of this caliber for some time now. I even thought I would take a long action Ruger and get it rebareled to .375 Ruger!

Althought the Ruger Alaskan does look great as is. Anyone knows the diffences in hte finish they offer on that rifle?

38 left.

Dropped the Father-In-Laws 375 H&H into my Screwbean stock :D Don't think he's getting it back.

Looks like a King to me ;)

Wow, does that come with a wide brimmed white hat, and a leopard skin jacket? LOL

there is a "used" but never fired African 375 Ruger FS (with no rings or box) for $699.99+tax at the local shop.................tempting!!!!!!!!!!!!!

good rifle for a guy wanting to try out a 375!

Yes, all hail the new King, the 338 Lapua! The Lapua will hurl a 300gr pill faster (if only slightly) and more accurately than the Ruger 375. Plus the Lapua has one distinct advantage over a Ruger and that is military adaptation. Although still expensive, Lapua brass is much easier to find and will become cheaper as more armed forces adapt it. Yeah, the Ruger 375 maybe arguably the king of the 375's but that just makes it the world's tallest midget.
