Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Use your head. There's a line. See people are skipping it.

Can't really say people are skipping the line. Whatever the reason the Transfers from Nordic got approved before older transfer numbers from different dealers, it's not the purchaser doing anything to influence this, its random people from all over the province that got their transfers relatively early. Saying people are skipping the line would imply everyone in Ontario who purchased from Nordic got together and made a push to have theirs done first.

What ever screw up happened, happened, and guns got transferred, if it was a genuine screw up, possibly from someone new at the CFO's office, who cares, the positive is there is someone new, thus an additional person, getting transfers done and ultimately speeding up the process, complaining about them and possibly getting them fired does nothing except slow down the whole process. And If its the NS CFO, secretly to the public, helping out the ON CFO and they don't want to admit it, who cares, the positive is an additional person or people are helping get transfers done.

Feels like this week is a writeoff for transfers.... GIVE ME A TRANSFER
YES i qm sure they are understaffed this week. Any week with a stat holiday in it can be a slow one. When I worked for the Ontario government it was common place to be down to skeleton staff on those weeks. People utilize the stat holiday to get a week off with only 4 days of vacation use.

Consequences? Like what? Fire someone at the CFO? What a idiotic idea.
Grow up. Stop crying. More approvals are better for everyone.
When I saw someone else (a complete stranger) get their approvals before mine, i genuinely thought "wow. Lucky bastsrds. Good for you!"
Then i continued to wait patiently without tears for mine. Two weeks later, i got one of mine. And still waiting for others.

No one is crying. Simply questioning why some are seemingly getting preferential treatment. You're the one being rude and argumentative.

If the CFO was a private business, and they exhibited this level of incompetence and decrease in productivity, they would have gone bankrupt or been fired by now. Because it's a government org there is zero responsibility or accountability. If you're fine with that good for you. Others like to have their tax dollars spend efficiently.

I'm not complaining bud. I'm saying in ANY job, if you are not doing your job properly and keep making mistakes guess what, there is a line up of people who are willing and able to do the job...I am grown btw and don't insult people on forums, seems like your the one who needs to grow up with that attitude.

Lol. Ok. *you're

This whole deal with a bunch of transfers from 1 store went through “out of turn” can be a little frustrating. However, I would wager that they used that bunch from an out-of-province vender and CFO to train new/temp staff.
I have no issue with this. Means mine are closer to being done, and maybe one of mine gets pulled to use as a training aid this week!

I also got some pushback about not posting 5 numbers for a transfer before. I will post them now as I think my first one could drop by or on the weekend, and I’m stoked to get it!
59252xx initiated June 9
60356xx initiated Sept 18 (I think; bought Sept 10)
None received yet, don’t expect to see the later one until 2023 anyway.

This negativity is why most of my shooting buddies don't post on CGN. I'm sure this is why others don't aswell Personally, I don't take it personally.
I understand It's frustrating. But transfers are moving. ANY transfer being approved is a good thing.
When this started numbers were 5888### (May 16)and are now at 6050500. That's a lot of transfers. And the chart that Wolf put together. It's a nice tool. And again thank you for taking your PERSONAL time and doing this. "A good man does for others".
And reading someone got thier "toy". Makes me happy. Weather they have reference numbers higher than me or not. Transfers are being done.
And to the secret society guys with the smooth tongue or secret connections. Good for you. Maybe use your super powers for good.
We should stand together. We are brothers and sisters. Tough times make strong men.
And I'm sure most of us agree and can say. I love my guns. 😁
Stay positive

And you will be constantly disappointed because you compare government efficiency to private sector efficiency. Apply for a job at the CFO and make it better. If not, then its just complaining.

Well it's because of people like us who bring up issues like this (not complaining) and take action that things change. If these good people never sent emails to the Obudsman and followed up with the delays and unproductive/inefficiancies, gaps would not be identified. You can thank people who you think "complain" and take action instead of just sitting back amd waiting for things to happen for you.

My guess is in 4 months the backlog will be cleared. Since handguns will be non-existent and transfers between people won't be allowed. Only thing left will be restricted rifle transfers and that won't be much.

Besides, wolf needs the data points. If it wasn't for this thread, it would have taken much much longer. Everyone would be calling the cfo and slowing down approvals. Because of this thread. We have a solid prediction via spreadsheet by wolf.
But we also have a place for people to complain.

To be completely fair and disregarding any "politics" surrounding the out-of-order transfers... the data points on out-of-order transfers are kinda useless because there's no way to predict who's coming up next.

I do appreciate Wolf's work and the fact that he provided me a copy of his sheet early on, but in order to eliminate the conjecture on transfer rates (was present at the beginning with guess 50/75/100 transfers/day, not sure about now because I've looked for a while) and out-of-order transfer noise I've been maintain my own spreadsheet since roughly mid-July. It simply calculates overall averages (total average since May 30th and ~two-week (dependant on exact dates I have transfer #'s for) rolling average) based on the highest transfer number completed on any given day, taken from either this thread or my personal circle of friends. Very early after starting my spreadsheet from Wolf's data I caught some very obvious discrepancies between what information had been communicated from the CFO offices (both letters that have been released to dealers and what private individuals had shared from phone calls) and what was actually happening with numbers trickling in... I've since disregarded the "one third" claim and any claim from the CFO of the # of transfers being completed per day or week because at the end of the day it all cancels out when trying to predict when future transfers will go through, the math has been simplified greatly.

I feel that the sheet I've been maintaining is spitting out tentative dates on the long/high end, while Wolf's may be spitting out numbers on the short/low end... the reality is transfers will very likely fall somewhere between.
EDIT: Actually, just checked out Wolf's sheet, his is predicting similar dates to mine, and it seems he's stopped using CFO conjecture data.

I had a 59536XX go through last week which was initiated around June 24 but I'm waiting on another that was initiated BEFORE that one (59511XX). They aren't being done in any particular order or at least the processing times are completely different for every one.

The 59536### approval was a "mistake" that apparently the ON CFO will continue to make. Don't complain, be happy. :d
