Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

This spread sheet doesn’t take into account that approximately 1/3 of the Transfers initiated between the initial announcement and last day to initiate a transfer occurred in the first 2 to weeks.

Once they get through the initial bubble. Things will move quicker.

And how did you reach to this conclusion?

Anyone know how many days behind the CFO is on private transfers?

Same as they are for business transfers. The chart says its only business to private but the private to private numbers are included in the chart too and are running on the same timeline. The only reason there was any variation before was some vendors were having their transfers done immediately out of the normal cue. Nobody in the government was able to ascertain why it was happening and people were basically told it was either an error or another provinces CFO cleared it for ontario. The chart will include your private to private referwnce number and you'll be able to see the expected date of completion.

How so? It would only speed up if they started processing more per day which they are not. So, in my mind, it will just drag out like it has been...1 at a time. I still have so many in que, the first batch of which I have already been waiting over 4 months for and there is still around 35,000 to go until my next approval. This sucks.

I think a lot of the transfers in the time frame we are working through will be business to private. When things were mid-June, 2022 chaotic private sellers were struggling hard to get through, not impossible, but there was stock in stores and I suspect they were a bigger number of transfers. I suspect we will see some times when there is a greater percentage of private transfers.

There is definitely some speculation in this statement, but it seem reasonable to me.

Having said that my next 2 transfers are private sales...

My Cabelas Ruger Wrangler showed up yesterday... The price was right, but the 'profiteering' afterwards bugged me...

Cabelas charged $19.99 for cheapo ($5 IMHO) case & $7.99 for cheapo combo lock. IMHO if they're going to go above & beyond the legal requirements, then they should toss the case & lock in @ cost.

Anyway, back to the important stuff, ie 'dates'...

Ordered June 3rd...
Cabelas started the transfer on June 12th...
ON CFO approved it October 25th...
Cabelas mailed it October 26th...
I received it yesterday October 31st...

Fully 150 days AFTER ordering it!!!

This is another one I would have transferred to my wife, but alas Oct.21st happened... Ugh

The spreadsheet uses real reference number of member with the actual date that transfer initiated. You can't get more accurate than that

Purchase initiated: 6 June 22
NL business to private ON
Transfer ref received: 20 July 22
Ref #: 59361XX
Transfer approved: 31 Oct 22

Transfer initiated: June 16th
Ref #: 59391XX
Transfer approved: Nov 1st

Funny enough I did not get a transfer notification email from the CFO but I did see it added to the list of guns registered to me via the RCMP IWS website.

Just to stay on the safe side, I bring an empty well-worn old case and trigger lock when I'm picking up a new toy.
