Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Thanks. Complaint filed. I also searched their database and found they also had a lot of complaints from 2020-2021.
Obviously, nothing was really fixed. Here's what they said about that time period:

We received numerous complaints in 2020-2021 about delays in approvals by Ontario’s Chief Firearms Officer (CFO) for transfers of restricted firearms. We learned that this backlog was largely due to COVID-19, as the office was struggling with staff shortages and technological limitations related to working from home, while dealing with an increase in applications. Our staff confirmed that the CFO had put out messages to advise the public of possible delays. We also worked with CFO staff, through a spreadsheet system, to ensure that each application related to a complaint we received was processed.

Irrespective of the challenges, the bottom line is the CFO in ON is not staffed appropriately to handle transfers in a "timely manner"...

I anticipate many folks will be contacting the Ombudsman to complain, I know I will.

for transfer that started on May 16th..........update today.... called in at least 20 times, was dropped on all but 3, each time spent 45 mins on hold until I could talk to someone, they looked into it and apparently my transfer was approved on June 22nd but they failed to send the email to seller or me, we both check spam and junk folders.... nothing. they tried to transfer me to CFO office because only they can send another email apparently. Super nice lady on the phone even waited while I was on my phone so I could check my email to see that I got the approval.... now the shipping wait.......

Yup, you got that right. What a waste of valuable time for the Canadian taxpayer, spending hours on the phone and being hung up on.

Aren’t we supposed to get the transfer notice from our own provincial CFO? For all my past restricted purchases notices have come from the Ontario CFO. I bought a restricted from Wanstalls on June 17 and got the transfer notice from BC/Yukon CFO on June 25. Am I missing something?

Perhaps slower CFO offices (Yukon) are helping with the overload.

My private transfer was approved May 19 had possession by May 26, I'm still waiting for a registration so I can take it out of the house. F'n Ridiculous.

So this June 17 order shipped today but another order from Al Flaherty on May 31 hasn’t completed transfer yet… very interesting
