Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Called the CFO with ref. #, got through first call right away. That's a good sign.

Hoping gun will be received before the ranges are open.

The only time I called the Ombudsman was when Service Ontario ripped me off 2 years on an enhanced drivers licence. They were zero help. I would imagine all that will come up complaining about this is that times are slower because staff is reduced due to COVID-19. There is no reason why a retail seller shouldn’t just be allowed ship the gun out right away. The business is authorized to sell restricted firearms and knows we have a valid RPAL. Then then registration can show up when it shows up.

There is no excuse for transfer times currently being experienced in Ontario. This is 100% the liberals within the OPP/CFO slowing things down on their own agenda, knowing Ford and the other top folks are busy dealing with COVID. Its the OPP/CFO thinking they are saving the world.

Working from home is a no-no of course due to data security

Its a simple solution. You reduce desk / staffing quantities to an adequate level that respects distancing. Then you add an afternoon shift. Then you add a night shift. 24/7 operation, everyone has their job still, and things keep moving. Wether they work or not the government is paying the staff (either through salary in other areas, vacation/lieu payouts, or CERB payments)....so you might as well keep them employed where they have been and do not require additional training. Government workers thinking outside the box of 9am-5pm is very difficult though.

They allegedly are working from home, it takes how long it takes....p a n d e m i c comes to mind.

Lol, where have you been. This is not the first time things have been like this. There is a reason there are many, many different threads on Ontario transfer times. It has ZERO to do with COVID-19.

You are almost there. I initiated a transfer on Feb. 20th, the BC RCMP E-Division approved the transfer on the same day, then it went back to the Ottawa registry for the final approval. Called in couple of times to the 1-800-# and finally told it was completed on April 6. The call center lady said that I was lucky that I started the initiation in Feb. 2020. it's a minimum 2-3 months wait for anything initiated after March. 2020.

Interesting system you got in BC.

In Ontario, our provincial CFO does all the approvals.

Transfer, Ontario to Ontario, individual seller and buyer, initiated Friday March 6th.
Transfer approved, today, April 17...6 weeks to the day.
