The Vz/Cz is what the SKS wants to be when it grows up.
VZ58/CZ858
-lighter
-more option to mount optics
-more accessories
-detachable magazines
-better accuracy
-better ergonomic
SKS are nice but they are definitly not on par with VZ58 platforms. Only positive with SKS over the VZ58 is the price
Sask Cops point is that a heavily modified SKS is just that - heavy.
For $1023 CAD I built this:
And its STILL the firearm I love the most out of my collection.
OR for $1300 CAD you can have this and ONLY THIS:
Not even close to being as good for the money as my SKS, BUT throw another $600 CAD at it and yah, then you got a better gun for sure!
Lol I respectfully disagree. For the same $, the factory Vz is waaaay better than the ....errr, let's say tricked out for the sake of argument.... SKS. The Archangel stock is nothing special, the optic is nothing special, and a bipod on a 7.62x39.... I'll pass on the whole thing and take the Vz thank you.
And with regard to the price.... you paid $1023 for a surplus (tranlation: used) rifle and mediocre (I have an SKS with the same stock, so I can say this from experience) parts. Used Cz858s are going for $800-$900 right now, usually with some extras. A comparable 858 with an optic and optic mount is actually.... cheaper than your SKS. I can't imagine having over a grand into an SKS. Ouch.
Hey 308 - where did you pick up the ambi mag and bolt release?
The only way the vz58 was better than an SKS would be if it had a SELECT FIRE. Without it , it's just a neutered dog.
