VZ58 vs sks

SKS - as it comes from the fsctory, it's a great bush gun, truck gun, survival gun.

Vz58 - lighter, quicker handling, quicker reloads, MUCH better ergonomics. All of which are really important only if you are using it to compete (but threr are much better choices, so why would you??) or on a 2-way range (where, again, there are better guns).

VZ58/CZ858
-lighter
-more option to mount optics
-more accessories
-detachable magazines
-better accuracy
-better ergonomic

SKS are nice but they are definitly not on par with VZ58 platforms. Only positive with SKS over the VZ58 is the price

This is also all true.

For $1023 CAD I built this:

And its STILL the firearm I love the most out of my collection.

OR for $1300 CAD you can have this and ONLY THIS:

Not even close to being as good for the money as my SKS, BUT throw another $600 CAD at it and yah, then you got a better gun for sure!

Interesting points. I just bought an SKS today. Appears to be a very nice rifle for the price, although I haven't fired it yet. My son had a VZ and sold it, but kept his SKS.

Lol I respectfully disagree. For the same $, the factory Vz is waaaay better than the ....errr, let's say tricked out for the sake of argument.... SKS. The Archangel stock is nothing special, the optic is nothing special, and a bipod on a 7.62x39.... I'll pass on the whole thing and take the Vz thank you.

And with regard to the price.... you paid $1023 for a surplus (tranlation: used) rifle and mediocre (I have an SKS with the same stock, so I can say this from experience) parts. Used Cz858s are going for $800-$900 right now, usually with some extras. A comparable 858 with an optic and optic mount is actually.... cheaper than your SKS. I can't imagine having over a grand into an SKS. Ouch.

Everybody has there particular way of fancying things. To me, if I could only own my CSA Vz 58 in stock form, id sell it in a heart beat. IMO not pleasant guns to fire at the price they go for stock.

I wouldnt touch a 858 with a 10ft pole. Cant throw that gun into this comparison unless your a gambler, cus thats exactly what a person is if their buying one of those or a swiss arms rifle these days.

and $420 of that $1023 is the PO optic. The only ouch that SKS dishes out is to the reputations of all the shooters it beats at shooting competitions XD

And how the fuk is PO optic not special ?!? theres only like 2 stores in Canada that carry them if that lol yaaah I may be triggered now hehe

I'm just going to leave this pretty girl here for you guys. Picked it up for $1150 almost new with 7 mags. Spent about $100 on the ambi mag and bolt releases. Swapped the black stock for beaver barf and did better than breaking even on that change. Added the folder for $75. (still have the reg butt stock which feels perfect for me) No need for optics. But if i want $100 or so will get me a reliable mount that bolts right to the receiver with no funny business.

Again the sks is great, but there is no comparison. I would go for this every time.

Vz58 , not even a debate . Sks s are over rated, they are cheap that’s why people like them , Some people turn them into heavy plastic minute of barn door tacticool wonders and think its something it’s not ..ergonomics , magazines , accuracy , fieldstrip , weight , overall size , trigger , balance , quality, looks , accessories vz wins . Price sks wins . Now is it a better gun yes , is it worth 4 times the price to you. Well that’s your decision .

I own a few of both and say no to both lol. The vz58 is better in almost every way expect for reliability and collectability. I'll keep all my sks, not my VZ58 though.
