Who is buying a Type81?

hopefully we get them soon and + it will be nice beside the cz858 , and for those waiting well who know it might be the only ever 1000 t81 to get in the country , nothing is sure with the goverment we got ....

Ah yes, personal steaks. Those are the best kinds. What spices should I get?

stake, phones got a mind of its own.
No valid point? Point out grammatical or spelling mistakes.

Still didn't answer my question.

Why are you so quick to defend any slightly negative comment ?

mmmmm i can just imagine the group photo now...... The SVT's, the SKS's, the VZ, and the Type 81..... standing amongst the dry prairie grass, surrounded by a symphony of grasshoppers and the far off yipping of a group of coyote's... that red wood furniture being kissed by the rosy light of an Albertan sunset..... gaaaaaaa :adult:

Wish I could pop yotes with any red rifle... Stuck with my 17hmr,22-250 or primarily the 223 here in onterrible

For that price i think I would rather go with a nice vz52/57. Which I know is a quality piece. BTW are these t81 new production or surplus

Someone mentioned it in an earlier post about using AK mags....

Well AK mags aren't standardized for fitment even in AKs. Some online sources say 7.62x39 mags work, some say they don't. TI says the ones they have don't.

But again, since not all 7.62x39 AK mags work in all 7.62x39 AK platforms, it is safe to say not all 7.62x39 AK mags will work in the different platform that the type 81 is.

But some may. Testing is needed on a mag by mag basis. Some might. Some won't.

Not getting one, but thats only because the family is getting bigger this year (again) with our 3rd son. Firearms and shooting is not a priority in the budget right now.

Definitly an interesting rifle, cant wait to some of you guys review it when its finally in Canada.

Someone used my name, AND put it in bold!! I feel special.
And who are these Artards and Glocktards I keep hearing about? Did THEY get their name used in bold?

I want one and will eventually get one as I have a lot of 7.62x39 ammunition and have build up a large supply of eastern surplus arms so this one is just an eventuality. I can't afford to shell out 1k though on a rifle i can't use now so will wait until they are a bit more commercially avail. I imagine the pricepoint will remain rather close to the preorder

Pre-ordered one in spite of handling one at the Toronto Show earlier this year and walking away less than impressed.

Quality of workmanship was shoddy when compared to the vz.58 - rough machining, sloppy fit and finish, uneven parkerizing (i think that's what it was) and crappy wood fitment and quality (although the sample had some kind of painted wood which we were told was just for the production sample). Quite evident there was VERY little care put into the manufacturing which leads me to believe these are either over-runs (seconds ?) or a special commercial run as the military ones I've seen and handled in my travels (not personally used them however) were sharp looking and well finished.

In short, it's not anywhere near a $1k rifle more like a $500-$700 one at most. But it will sell as there are a dearth of semi-automatic 7.62x39 rifles in Canada that look like the venerable AK.

So why did I order ? Dunno. Maybe hoping that the final versions will be closer to the fit and finish of the (blued) military ones I've seen. Probably going to be disappointed, but oh well, it hard to resist indulging in this hobby :p

They have actually said that the production rifles will be blued and not parkerized which I am happy about. Did not like the look of the parkerized finish either.
