Who makes the best .45

I think Gobles in London special orders them in. I know you pay a premium for that extra bit of accuracy!! New owner there seems pretty cool too!!

You are way wrong my friend. To get your Norinco to anywere close to a out of the box STI, will cost you more than the purchase price of the STI , a Baer or Kimber.

Everything- all parts including barrel- have to be changed on a Norinco. The frame - slide fit has to be redone. Since the Norinco frame /slide combination is hard - this is a drawback to obtain a good fit and make it workable. This mean time and money. You Nork will then be build with parts, barrel, mags from Wilson, Baer or Kimber...

The shooter -- good shooter - get good equipment- the best they can afford. There is no room for second hand quality in the upper competition level. No competitive shooter will like to start with an handicap such as a Norinco build gun. They can be made to work if you trough enough money at it but this is definitely not the way to go.

I know shooter that have spend money on Norinco and regret doing so. I do not know one single shooter that shoot bulleye - target match with a Norinco. Since you never found a Springfield or Para that shoot for you, you start thinking that maybe , it's not the gun but the shooter...

:)

Where in Canada can you get a Wilson or a Les Baer?? I would love to get a Baer

I got my Baer out of the U.S , but there is soon to be an official Canadian Baer dealer. I talked to the owner and the guns are being built as we speak , they happen to be right where you are in Toronto . The owner ( Gabrielle ) is also a member here ( archangel1 ) , but here is there website...... www.roninsports.com click on products then firearms for price list and model !

If you are looking at quality and price I would go with the Para SSP. The quality is there, mine is accurate, reliable and Para has great support. for around $1,100 you can't beat them.

I have the Norincos as well both stock and customized by Armco and Dlask. Norks are great and after you replace the sights and have the trigger worked on you will have an excellent shooter. Spend $600 on them and you will have a gun as good or better than any Kimberout there.

There is eight in there!

Target.jpg

Both targets shot at 15 yards from a rest.

Who out there makes a top quality 1911 out there!
I'm looking for some feedback to help me decide on my next .45 purchase from people who actually have used them.

What is your price range?

< $1000?

$1000-$2000?

> $2000?

STI Edge .45 - Match .45/200 SWC
10 rounds - 1 inches at 25 yards - score 99/100

5 rounds Offhand - 5 two hands.

You get what you pay for.

Janeau, that is TOTAL BULL####. "you get what you pay for" - sure. If you drive a Ferrari then you can win Formula One races, just like Micheal Schumaker...

I won't call into question the validity of your target because I wasn't there, but if you can put 10 into a 1.5" group offhand at 25yds with an STI, I'll bet you $1000 that you can do the same with almost any decently tuned 1911 out there. possibly no the first target, but after, what? Say, 400 or 500 rounds of practice with a particular gun to know its handling characteristics as well as your own kit?

Spending astronomical dollars on an STI does not a good shooter make! You should know better if you shoot enough to have shot that target consistently. ;)

An STI might help an exceptional shooter to consistently achieve his best targets, but it's not going to help a mediocre Norinco Shooter into an IPSC or bullseye champion either and if you maintain it will, then I expect you to man up and admit STI is paying you to slag other brands

Claven2 - "Janeau, that is TOTAL BULL####"

I don't get your point! LOL

I wish I could see a target at 25 yds that finely even from a rest. If I could I'll bet you a buck or two that our Norincos would do what the STI did. .591" at 15 yards ain't exactly shotgun shooting. I didn't measure my Para's performance but it was less than that with 8 rounds. Wish I could hold off hand as well as from a rest. Would go to the Olympics if I could!

DARKSTANG - thanks. Para's are great guns. Waiting for them to come out with a single stack 5" 9MM with 10 round clips. Love to have their LTC but I have a Norinco Commander all gussed up by Gunnar at Armco and it is accurate, reliable and built like a tank. OVer 500 rds through it with no FTF. All I need to keep the targets at bay around the house at night. LOL

As far as Para is concerned they provide great customer service and as a bonus are Canadian made which is noteable given our governments love for guns and the gun industry.! Worth supporting I think.

Some people are blinded by the name brand!! maybe Ralph Lauren will start making 1911's and Ill buy one of them!!!!That will teach you guys and your Norincos!!!!! I would buy an STI Edge because it looks different, not because it would shoot better!! I can get a cheaper gun that works just as good for half the price!!Norinco would be it!!!

Only thing that irks me about Para is that they are a Canadian company yet they charge ALOT more for their products in Canada than they do in the US despite their cost to export their guns there. Sometimes it seems like us Canadians are subsidizing their products so they can sell cheap in the USA. In my mind it should be the opposite

My personal experience with Para Ordnance has been extremely negative. Of the three Para pistols that I've shot, every single one had reliability issues – FTF, FTE, slide not locking back...and in one case all of the above. Not exactly confidence inspiring.

well, after all that I'm still undecided......lol.......I will be upgrading soon.

Anyways, I do have a norc. 1911-A,changed the sights to adjustable bo-mars, had a new bushing machined and matched, tightened up the slide, changed all trigger parts with ed brown parts, added wrap aroung pachmyer grips,....all at a cost of around 350 canadian (friend is a machinist).
It shoots great, reliable and the finish is great...but I would like to upgrade to a cadillac ( I guess I'm superficial)...lol
Thanks for all your relies,....keep shooting!!!
