Why buy a FX 9?

It solved two problems for me, one I had and one I hadn't experienced yet but had heard of online.
1) The Problem I Had: Compressed the buffer spring a bit to aid in stripping the first round off the magazine - I was having the first round slow the bolt enough it didn't go all the way into battery either by charging handle/slingshot or by hitting the bolt release button. It depended on which magazine I was using but was somewhat random as well. I wanted 100% reliability though, thus the quarters. I'll eventually change out the spring although I just haven't found one I like yet. I ordered a .308 carbine spring that's a bit too strong, I'm going to let it sit in a drawer for a few years and see if it relaxes a bit. Now it's a spare!
2) The Problem(s) I Didn't Have: Apparently doing the quarters thing stops the bolt carrier maximum travel a bit closer to the LRBHO to ease wear and tear while also preventing brass going down into the trigger group. It's a somewhat rare and intermittent problem but apparently it's a thing with 9mm PCCs like this one. Since I ordered and installed the Triggertech cartridge-style trigger group almost immediately, this was never going to be an issue for me. I hope I save the wear and tear on the LRBHO though only time will tell.
After all I've put into it, I can honestly say I think it was worth it. This thing is FAST and FUN. I raced my pops with him using his Ruger PC9 and easily whupped him. If we race pistols or some other long arms, he usually beats me. For whatever that's worth!
My two cents:
PROS:
1. Controls - absolutely fantastic. Everything is in a logical place, reachable. Comfortable to operate all facets of the gun
2. Ease of take down - super easy for even a dumb monkey like me. It is night and day compared to the longer process of the Ruger PC Carbine. Even down to the takedown of the bolt - super easy and very quickly done, both disassembly and reassembly
3. Take Glock mags, so great compatibility with commonly used platform
4. Probably the best looking PCC of the ones that I have owned, and even for the ones that I haven't, my FX9 looks better, sometimes significantly.
5. It was pretty accurate out of the box. Mine is still as stock model
6. Great weight, both in balance and distribution.
7. This one I have been told, but I have no personal experience as I have never owned or used an AR. I have been told that this is fairly similar in terms of using an AR insofar as controls and look and feel.
8. (I know no one cares about this one) - Christian company, so always a plus in my book!
CONS THAT I CAN LIVE WITH / ARE ADDRESSABLE:
1. Aluminum cased cartridges not recommended. I haven't tried it though
2. Comes bone dry - need to lube it up before using
3. Even though when I talked with the FO rep, she swore there was not a break in period, all indications are that there is a break in period, using 115gr ammo. Maybe about 200 rounds.
4. Charging handle (even gen2) could be bigger - there are third party charging handles available but the $$$ is a bit of a turn off
5. Maybe due to blowback nature of the gun - it gets dirty fast but thankfully the takedown and clean is super easy (see above)
CONS THAT ANNOY ME AND I HAVEN'T FIXED YET (DON'T KNOW HOW)
1. Last round bolt hold open is hit and miss. Seems to work better and is more consistent with Magpul GL9s, etc., over OEM Glock 17 G5
2. Bolt release goes off by itself fairly regularly but without any consistency - sometimes when the gun isn't even touched and it goes off while it is just sitting on the bench on sandbags. Other times it goes off with a light bump of the gun or other movement. There is no rhyme or reason.
Overall, I would HIGHLY recommended this gun. Who cares if it may be on a banned list. You can't live in fear. Plus, after owning a few PCCs, I thought I was satisfied that I have tried everything. Until I got this and fell in love.

OK I pulled the trigger on one. Thanks FOC. Now the wait. Hopefully less than two weeks. I'll throw on a Sparc2 or a set of irons off of a Scorpian I once owned. Between practicing with my new M&P Compact and buying this thing I am will be going through primer like poop through a goose. Hopefully we will see some relief in both the supply and price by the fall. I said hope as in trying to win Loto Max.
Anyone got suggestions as in the best pace to pick up some of the goodies I likely will chase down over time.

We have run AR-10 rifle length springs and a Blitzkrieg hydraulic buffers in some competition built FX9's and have had zero issues. In IPSC you don't need to use the bolt lock back, so long as you can show clear. Tuning a PCC can only be done if you slow the bolt down and stop it from having the bolt slam back on a solid wall. If they are tuned properly, the bolt should only travel back far enough to re set the hammer plus a couple of thou for insurance. Muzzle brakes on a PCC purely for the cool factor and just add forward weight and will do nothing for recoil. We played the PCC race gun game for a long time both here and in the US with 60 rounds sticks and like I stated above, having a properly tuned buffer is 99.9% of the tuning needed. A good trigger with a fast reset is a no brainer and should be done regardless as the factory one sucks balls. One last thing, polishing the feed ramp with some compound and a Dremel will cost you nothing and will improve feeding a bunch.
Just read a message sent to my Services Account that my FX9 was approved by the CFP June 28 and it expires Sept 26, 2022. Not sure what happens Sept 26. I may have sold it to a stranger by then. So we now seem to have a long gun registry. If anyone votes for Trudeau that has a firearm of any sort I hope that person trips on a banana and falls into a pile of cow pie.

Does the CFP site actually state what you bought? I bought a gun two weeks ago and got the email notification for the transfer but when I log into the government website, there are no details of what I bought, just that the transfer number is good for 90 days and the retailer from which the transfer applies or is valid within that 90 days.
I just logged into the RCMP site and there is no indication of what was purchased or to what the transfer applied. I just see transfer number, the retailer name and the expiry date of the transfer. I don't see any further details. So from what I understand if I go back to the same retailer and buy another 1, 2, or 5 guns in the next 90 days, it would be the same transfer number that applies. Of course, the retailer would have the record of what I bought and under the new regulations is to store it for 20 years.

Well I hope you are right. I just have a huge sense of mistrust when it comes to our friend Mr. Trudeau and his merry band of theives. Your explanation does make sense.

I hear ya...I don't trust the government either, and I don't like this new system and my purchases will be significantly curtailed over time compared to pre May 18.
All that said though, many retailers when ordering online already previously stored that information but it was for store records only. So people shouldn't fool themselves in thinking their online purchases and even in person purchases of NR firearms had no record. It just wasn't mandated to be retained for 20 years.
I'm not even sure if previously serial numbers were recorded. It never showed up on any of my invoices, either online or in person. And when purchasing in person, they scanned the product bar code on the product or inputted it in, which did not show any serial number. When in person I always watch what the clerk does and can see his/her screen. Most of the stores don't have a serial number tracked - that I can see anyway...
