not an sks slamfire but when i was younger i bought an fn49 8mm, the guy warned me that he had a few slamfires and not to load multiple rounds until i have a gunsmith check it out. i fire a few rounds before paying him, no problem, then later my buddy and i go to the range and of course...i load 5 rounds. bang bang bang bangBANG...slamfire. well, you would think id stop there right? well.....something to the effect of "lets see if we can make the whole mag go off"...yea yea i know, i was young and dumb and full of...teen spirit.

so, magazine number two, bang bang bang bangBOOM, out of battery, unburnt powder hit me in the face, the burnt gasses stung my eyes, the mangled 8mm shell flew back, hit me in the face in the nose imbedding a peice of brass down to the bone, then twisted around, and smacked my glasses off my face.

felt like i was punched in the face, i thought id lost an eye and because of adrenaline i just couldn't feel the pain

after a few seconds i took my hand off my face, covered in blood, but luckily i was fine, managed to pull the piece of brass that snapped off from the shell out of my face

the receiver was bowed out and the rifle was junk. so 300 dollars for a rifle, 17 rounds total of 8mm down the pipe and a lesson i wont soon forget, DON'T F*** AROUND WITH SAFETY!

i still have the mangled shell casing, ill be showing that to my kids if i ever have any, when i teach them to shoot.

slamfires aren't as common as people fear they are, but if you ever have a rifle do it, please dont keep shooting it until you look into the cause of the problem, i was lucky, you might not be.

not saying the type 81 or even sks are ar high risk of this, the subject came up, i thought id share a story

how it feels. pre orders are cruel, its like knowing you got exactly what you wanted for Christmas but now you have to wait until Christmas to open it

Oh yeh? Pretty sure the military versions existed since the early 80s, and a few civilian versions in the states have been around since the 90s (I think). Larry Vickers has one (the 7.62 X 39 version). Regardless all I was doing was justifying my probing for answers.

Pretty sure that's what I said but thanks for pointlessly pointing it out again! If you try reading a little bit you will see that most of your questions have already been answered and others well just may need to wait until the rifles are in Country and tested and reviewed by the first Guinea Pigs.

i love this rifles ability to stir up arguments, sarcastic comments, and hatred towards your fellow gun owner lol its worth buying just for that

You said the rifles didn't exist. The rifles do exist, our specific iteration is going to have a slightly longer barrel. None of my questions have been answered by TI, I've been chatting with friendly forum ppl and they've been giving me great advice. You managed to miss the focus of my post and you got in my face over a periphery point. Also, referring to ppl that pre-ordered as guinea pigs is a little abrasive don't you think? The possibility for some more info prior to them landing is solid. Like I said earlier Larry Vickers has the exact same gun we'll be getting (with a slightly shorter barrel), also I'm pretty sure TI said they would be sending a sample to review sites prior to the main shipment, ALSO they do have a prototype sample themselves so I'm sure they know what the trigger's like. If questions about a pre-order upset you u'r on the wrong forum.

I dont think I'm quite convinced yet....Dont get me wrong! They are very cool, but paying 1k for a Chinese built mag-fed sks seems a bit much when I could find a CZ for the same or less.

Just a few questions TI,

1. The finish looks much better on the fixed version than the folding one in those pictures...is that just the picture or is there really a discrepancy between aesthetics with the two offerings?
2. I emailed you guys and I was told that the stock is not removable like an AK or VZ, meaning we are stuck with them for life essentially. How about the side panels of the folding stock? Are they removable? Perhaps Zahal or something will develop tacticool side panels for the folding stock version if that is the case.
3. Is the pistol grip removable?
4. I've seen postings and vids saying the trigger is nice and crisp, but a post on this forum saying it is the same as a vz 58 or sks? Which is it? (Please say the trigger is better than that of an SKS or striker fired VZ)
5. Those ribs on the barrel are for a rifle grenades eh? Does this mean we can buy a dummy rifle grenade and some blank 7.62 X 39s for some lols in the woods?
6. How rigid is the folding stock? It isn't wobbly is it? (not sure if u'd know yet but why not ask)

I've always loved the AK platform and have always resented that my American family can own them and I can't. I absolutely despise the AR 15 and similar Nato offerings. Commie style all the way. If you can answer these I'll place an order. I acknowledge this will be the closest thing to a AK I'll ever own *sad face. Who knows, maybe in time the T81 will be a proven Canadian gem that will make our southern neighbours jealous of us, for once *fingers crossed.

Cheers,
Shawn
1. No discrepancy between stock types
2. Side panels appear to be riveted in place. Our sample is a fixed stock
3. Yes
4. It is a military trigger on a red rifle. Not that different from any other military 7.62x39
5. Theoretically possible, but not something we sell
6. it's solid

"2. The wood stock should be removable if it follows the AK pattern. The folding stock wouldn't be since the stock is connected to the rear trunnion. That's what is riveted in. The side panels do come off. I'm sure the 3D printer guys can make something, but what? The stock won't stay folded if you change the width.
3. Unless they changed something these will come off with a flat tip screwdriver. It screws into a small wedge inside the receiver."

Can you confirm this TI? If that's the case I'll definitely get a fixed stock.

Fixed stock is riveted in. As mentioned in our email to you the stocks are not interchangeable .

Thank you! I guess I'll get a fixed stock and take it for a trigger job, since trying to improve the Vz 58 triggers lead to malfunctions. Cheers.

I mearly politely pointed out (answering your comment) that no legitimate video exists because the rifles don't exist as of yet! And yes I also pointed out that there are videos of a prototype, some Military type 81's and some rather rare American versions! Different spec rifles all!

The "iteration" we are getting does not exist! (Soon I hope) Longer barrel and the reciever and trigger group will have to be different! It's a diffeeent rifle that looks very similar to the versions that do exist. Didn't mean to upset you but you didn't seem to get my simple point about the videos!

And as far as Guinea Pigs, you can count me in as calling myself that as I preordered one. So ya! Us Guinea Pigs may be able to answer questions and give reviews to those who don't preorder the first batch.

I can see this thread needing another cleanup atleast once more before rifles arrive. Its funny how all the non TI comments were removed to declutter this thread and now many of the same questions, and arguments are happening again lol
