not an sks slamfire but when i was younger i bought an fn49 8mm, the guy warned me that he had a few slamfires and not to load multiple rounds until i have a gunsmith check it out. i fire a few rounds before paying him, no problem, then later my buddy and i go to the range and of course...i load 5 rounds. bang bang bang bangBANG...slamfire. well, you would think id stop there right? well.....something to the effect of "lets see if we can make the whole mag go off"...yea yea i know, i was young and dumb and full of...teen spirit.
so, magazine number two, bang bang bang bangBOOM, out of battery, unburnt powder hit me in the face, the burnt gasses stung my eyes, the mangled 8mm shell flew back, hit me in the face in the nose imbedding a peice of brass down to the bone, then twisted around, and smacked my glasses off my face.
felt like i was punched in the face, i thought id lost an eye and because of adrenaline i just couldn't feel the pain
after a few seconds i took my hand off my face, covered in blood, but luckily i was fine, managed to pull the piece of brass that snapped off from the shell out of my face
the receiver was bowed out and the rifle was junk. so 300 dollars for a rifle, 17 rounds total of 8mm down the pipe and a lesson i wont soon forget, DON'T F*** AROUND WITH SAFETY!
i still have the mangled shell casing, ill be showing that to my kids if i ever have any, when i teach them to shoot.
slamfires aren't as common as people fear they are, but if you ever have a rifle do it, please dont keep shooting it until you look into the cause of the problem, i was lucky, you might not be.
not saying the type 81 or even sks are ar high risk of this, the subject came up, i thought id share a story
