Norinco JW-15A Compact Hiker New Arrival

Received my order today. Fit and finish is as expected, but the iron sights are quite poorly oriented. I’ve emailed tenda to ask if all of these rifles are like this or if this one somehow snuck past the factory QC 🤪

Update; since this thing is so crude I’ve simply decided to use a set of needle nose pliers to ‘adjust’ the rear leaf sight. Wasn’t planning on using the stock sights anyway seeing as I have a cheap 4x40 laying around.
Sights look aligned on the barrel, maybe the barrel is attached crooked or over-torqued?

It is likely the barrel indexing that is off, sometimes looking at the location of the extratctor cutout at the chamber can give a clue to how well indexed the barrel is... if your lucky its under torqued and could be torqued a bit more to get things aligned.

Bending the rear sight and possibly shifting the front sight base a bit might help make it look a bit better. It shouldn't effect aiming to much but I find it annoying to my eyes when things don't line up nicely.

Just an update so far.
The sights on my rifle look reasonable straight,
The bolt itself had some very sharp edges a ding in the lengthwise slot and a hanging burr still attached.
I took a stone to it and removed. all the sharp edges with a polishing wheel on my dremel
There is still some rubbing between the bolt and the receiver when I cycle it but that will clear up with use.
When I tried to look down the barrel I couldn't see daylight thru it and though wow lots of cosmoline or whatever they use.
I could not get a cleaning rod to go thru from the receiver end of the action.
I pushed it thru from muzzle and about 1 inch from the receiver end of the barrel there was an obstruction.
I gave it a slight nudge and a bullet dropped out of the receiver end ( see included picture ).
Looks like a squib round had been fired and unnoticed previously.
The barrel was not horribly dirty otherwise and cleaned up fine.
I did not get to shoot it today, hopefully tomorrow.

Front sight problem on my rifle was the thing is in a dovetail slot and a screw holding it in.
If the screw is loose or off to one side it rolls it and looks crooked.
Easy fix remove clean loctite install straight.

That's what I was thinking, pretty easy to tweak the front sight a bit in either direction given the way the base is secured. Once the front sight base is perpendicular to the receiver a peep on the back would be a pretty sweet iron setup.

The only other thing is to reprofile the front sight blade a bit as some people have suggested and then maybe paint the tip white.

Wow... they delivered a rifle to you with a squib in it?

Wait so now we know that Norinco actually test fires their rifles. Hahaha that's pretty cool

They test them; they might not pass, but they test them! LOL. I had one back in the day and it was actually exceptionally accurate.
I really want to do some testing with the NR-15 that tenda is bringing in. It appears to be on newer tooling and has an improved magazine design. Even the stock feels way better than the jw-15. Norinco even makes a 22 magnum version that no one has imported for some reason
