H&K G36 civilian photos and details. UPDATED

Ok, this gun is gonna either suck or it will be prohib. NO IT WONT AHAHAHA I am so excited, and I just can't hide it. Actually I have been excited for a while because I have known about this for about 2 months, but I could never really prove it. I expected them to announce it at SHOT 2014. But this is like giving me candy. So happy right now. This does have a lot of rails on it, but it looks detachable so it's no biggie, the G36 I shot at vegas was uber light, and this one looks like a light barrel too so I cant see it being too heavy. And the pictures gave me the two options I was looking for, IDZ adjustable folding stock and compatibility with stanag mags, so instead of sourcing unobtanium g36 magazines I can run pmags. Although I gotta ask, where the hell is the mag release?

If this rifle is in the sl8 price range of 2100-2500 I have my next rifle.

There you go people. See? I have feelings too and my heart isn't made of cold dark antimatter. It's filled with happiness right now.

Now for HK to announce the P30X striker pistol, and the P30sk which I desperately hope comes to canada with a legal barrel.

I personally love the look of the original G36... Does anyone else think that STANAG mag looks a little out of place?

They should have put in their 30 round poly mag for ar15s in this pic then. Would look much more like it.

Now that everyone knows the G36 is inferior, they want to sell us a civilian version?

Screw HK. These would have been cool in 2003.

Awesome

so what would be an example of r.nichols arbitrarily withholding a canada-legal firearm from the market? I'm really curious, cause that would be a rather bizarre thing to do..

HK45? - USC? They could sell at least twice as many USC's in a year than they've EVER brought in. If you haven't dealt with these 'folks' you can't possibly understand the mixture of incompetence and sheer market ignorance that they display on a daily basis. It's not just with HK either, Taurus, Colt and Springfield Armory suffer the same fate. How about 2 years for a special order to arrive AFTER it's been cancelled for 23 months (it was cancelled, but they shipped it anyway). Parts? Why the hell would you ever need parts for a gun? Pick an HK pistol part, and then forget it, you won't get from HK's Official Importer. Safe to say there would be very, very few HK's in Canada if it wasn't for grey market guns.

Because companies can be strange at best - also since they have a BOD they will dictate what gets sold or not - sad as it is RNicholls could have had a a CDN specific G36 build for us a long time ago...

gadget

They pooched the Swiss Arms distributorship...

R. Nicholls. HAHAHAHAHA

I finally got my HK USC. From IRUN! for $700 less. (and $60 a mag not $250)

The marketplace is changing. Screw the middleman and exclusive distributors. Lets order direct and from companies wanting to make money on volume rather than gouging piece by piece.

The Old Boys Club are fading....2 -5 years and there game will be over.

Very True most of these companies made a deal with the devil to own the market back in the day when the whole firearms market was on the ropes during the Liberal's heyday! They favored the elitist Leo types to get the contracts, and they still do...

Well will have tp see how much is tacked on by the importer before I decide, still have seller's remorse for selling my G36C a few years ago might have to pick up a new one

I take your opinions seriously and I am really curious about what you found so endearing in this rifle.

Sure it's unobtanium right now, exotic, polymer and HK. So yeah, everyone gets excited and I understand, but you? I played with one and was left lukewarm...

Probably with regards to the reports on receivers cracking with the Germans.
Rumors and exaggerations, I would put little too no stock in that, same as the carrier tilt BS issues made about the HK416 that were unsubstantiated and put forth by erroneous sources trying to hold onto their AR/M4 market shares in the US...That BS rumor has been going on for over a decade at least.

To put hk quality in perspective. I used to carry an mp5 at work. Our training days (18 per year) would consist of at least half of each day solid shooting. There would be at least 15-20 guys shooting. Probably 2000-3000 round per day each. And in all the years I did this I never ever saw any form of stoppage with the mp5 in any form. Not one. And none of my work friends had ever seen one either.
The instructor mentioned he thinks he can remember one, bearing in mind he was doing that 5 days a week and he's been one of the instructors for over 15 years.

I personally must have witnessed the mp5 shot millions of times. Never an issue.

The g36 that we also used, and since I left have now become the primary choice over the mp5 were just as reliable and my old work friends have no complaints. My only thing is with the g36 I've probably only seen it used about 5% as much as I used the mp5. But again they seem totally reliable.

I used a G36K on the HK Tactical rifle course, 5 days, 2500+ rds, G2G no issues. It was my first introduction to a "piston" gun. My daily cleaning regime was scrubbing the piston, and wiping down the bolt carrier and chamber. If these make it in, I would definitely get one, if the 'price is right".

X 2 on the MP5 sub gun as well, Tactical Sub Gun course, 2500+ rds and no issues. Easily the best "sub gun" out there.

i didnt see anyone post this information yet (correct me if I am wrong on that front)
but it will be designated the HK293 in US (an probably Canada) and HK243 in other markets.

Bolt and barrel have been changed and is not easily interchangeable with the G36 (hence it should not be considered a weapon of war by the German gov't)

And lastly, yes it should take AR magazines
