FINALLY got a 1919a4!!! Finally ran a belt, video in post 101...

Hey Jay, palm-up/thumb-out when cocking your gun (on the odd chance a round cooks off). Those guns get HOT when you run a couple hundred round through them. We haven't gotten my buddy's hot enough to have a round cook off yet, but we had an incident where an uncrimped bullet 'fell out' and the powder that spilled into the gun did ignite.
Also, give the brass a few minutes to cool off after it leaves the gun ;)

Navy shooter - Now, I could be wrong, but the disconnector on the SA trigger should (famous last words, right? ;) ) make the gun so that 'timing' is not an issue.

On a FA, the trigger and sear are machined in such a way that the trigger (when held) will pull the sear down as the bolt moves forward and actually releases the firing pin slightly before full lock-up is achieved and thus timing is necessary.
IIRC On earlier FA guns you would have to actually bend the trigger to adjust the timing, but then they started installing timing adjustment screws on later models (including Izzy)

On SA guns, the disconnector can't/doesn't catch the sear when the bolt returns, so there is no way you can time the gun

Added - just did some double checking. Timing does not apply to SA guns. It's not necessarily a bad thing to check it, but you can't really adjust it on a SA and if it's off, you're going to know about it without having to check it ;)

Taking that deer hunting? That would be probably the most awesome thing I've heard of in years. Hunting regs: soft point ammo, max. of 5 rounds in a semi-auto CF, and that's about it, right? Oh, and too bad you couldn't have it set up on that Jeep mount (no shooting from a vehicle) or your awesome factor would TRIPLE.

To the op congrats on your new 1919A4, and IronCanadian thanks for the compliment. It took many years of work and saving to get these toys.

Which spring do you have???

I have the spring on the left, so I have been headspacing outside of the gun... Easier for a 'newbie'...

Thank you for the tip, I have just been grabbing the cocking handle & I will modify my hold to the palm up & thumb out method!

Malice, I think, your thinking of the timing adjustment set on the .50 inside the reciever. C5 was adjusted by slightly bending the trigger bar using the flat side of the reciever to see just how much to bend things. To bad Marstar does not break down a batch of FA 1919A4 and put parts kits out there, I bet they would sell like crazy. I would go for one.

Ok, slightly off topic. My brother has a deposit on one of the m37's coming in and:

#1 Does the m37 feed from the sam links as the m1919, and as I assume it does, will it feed from the same cloth belts. What I've found online (after hours of searching) seems to indicate it does, (some of the cloth belt feeders are advertised as working with the m1919/1919a4/m37) but can anyone confirm?

#2 Will a spade handle kit from a 1919 work, or is there a fundamental difference in the firing mechanism. They look the same, but...

Where are you guys finding those tripod/ monopod mounted ammo cans? I have been looking ever since I got my 1919 and have found nothing.

I was looking for a long time myself, i believe i found it on here or the Maple leaf up forum. Sometimes the fellow who owns Willys acres near Barrie has these combo cradles and ammo trays from time to time, give him a try.
