I love my GSG 1911 in 22lr!!!

i don't have one yet so I can't verify this, but I remember seeing once on rimfirecentral that people were using 4.8mm neoprene rubber washers from home depot as buffers. I think they were in 4 packs for under $1.

I'm also interested in some Steel sights instead of the plastic ones just not sure which brands would fit. I've heard that's it's an off size dove tail. Any info on this would be helpful. :)

They (other forumites) say that the rear-sights are Novak-cut styles.
Novaksights.com do not sell outside of the USA.
Brownells carry them and can send to Canada if less than US$100
I'm still waiting to hear from them which specific inventory numbers would fit my GSG 1911. I want a fully adjustable (elevation/windage) white-dot rear-sight that will NOT need milling/machining but could fit with a little bit of filing if need be. I'm still waiting.

Just took my new gsg out to the range today.I could not be happier it lived up to everything that I had read abought it. I want the tactical now.

How come? For the rail? I was going to buy the tactical, for the rail, but then thought putting a weapon light on a 22 plinker would be kinda pointless, as it would be a range only gun.
Its not for the fake can is it?

I hate you guys,I've been waiting for mine, i paid like 2weeks ago, sitting here on days off waiting for mailman to bring me my goodies.

The reason I want a tactical is because last year I bought a bayanet for a hand gun(impulse buy). Now I won"t put it on my 45, but for a fun gun like the tactical why not.I already have all the clips I need and if I get a gsg from a fellow nutter for a good price I figure it would be a great change up gun at the range.
On a side note I waited 3 weeks to get this puppy so I know how that feels. After shooting this bad boy my only concern is I fear ammo shortages after the rest of you get your toys.
I would like to thank blue line for bringing this in Now just get gsg to make a speacial version (higher end) so I can Get more next year.

I took my GSG out to the range today. Put 1000 rounds CCI mini mags and Federal copper plated through it and no problem at all.

Now, I'm new to a 1911 style pistol . I love my plastic guns because they are easy to take apart and I shoot very well with them.

So I thought ,lets take the magazine disconnect out. Not a big deal ,I guessed .
Problem was I did not have a Punch ,so I invented a upside down drill bit in my powerdrill . Got it out and took the magwell out , let go of the grip safety and the parts underneath came loose .Take the magazine disconnect out of the magwell ,pull the spring and "zing" the dam thing fly's through the dark man cave f:P: .
On my knees ,flashlight on I'm zooming every inch of the floor and find it !
I put the magwell back in ,push the pin in and ..... slip with my improvised tool ,scratch on magwell ,frame and chipped walnut grip. :HR:

On the range everything works well, only the gripsafety does not work for me . I have a really high grip on my guns and so I don't disengage the safety well enough. Thats were the rubberband and piece of cardboard comes in the game.

Anybody can tell me how to take the gripsafety off ?

and I had to put the tall front sight in , but it is kind a loose in the notch ,so I have to screw it in harder and front sight comes a bit higher this way ? Is this normal ?

Now Pics.

The first rule of working on a 1911, and especially one with nice checkered wood grips on it, is to remove the grips & put them aside in a safe place. Ask me how I know this....

As for the improvised punch you might have been better of just using the drill bit reversed without the powerdrill to push out the mainspring housing retaining pin. With the hammer uncocked it does not take much pressure to push that pin out... ;)

The thing with the front sights is that the screw goes through the front sight and does not engage into any threaded "hole". It just, as you twist the screws, hits bottom and tries to raise the whole unit until it is wedged firmly against the sloping angles of the channel. Screw tight enough that it won't budge. And since the screw does not engage into any alighnment hole, guess what? You have to align the front sight by eyeballing it. Equal spaces on both sides.
But mind you, having the front sight slidable (not by design) means that you can adjust for extreme windage by playing with both front- and rear-sights.

I'm having Armco (Gunnar) install a fully adjustable (windage/elevation) rear-sight on mine.
