Its here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(Valmet M78)

Nice bfiles. I dream of a owning an M76 clone some day but this is a close second.

Like any other semi gun, the barrel can be cut down to 18 which would be restricted. Cut down to 18.5 would be non-restricted.

I'd do it to a Hunter well before an M78 though.

I thought a non-restricted semi cut down past 18.5 became prohib?

Cutting a barrel past 457mm (18 inches) on an otherwise Non-Restricted semi-automatic centre fire makes it Prohibited. Cutting the same to 470mm or more (18,5") and it remains NR. That half-inch gap is where it becomes Restricted, and you must report it to the CFC to get it Registered.

Reference the Criminal Code of Canada (Part III Section 84(1)), under definitions of Restricted and Prohibited fire-arms.

Lovely.

What cal. are you looking 4.

Any would be fine, 7.62x39 would be preferred (because of awesomeness) but not essential. Would just be nice to maybe get the RPD should it get classed NR and an M78 in the same caliber. Easier to take both to the range. And I'd always take both haha.

Yes, I've seen your ads. :p

techincally speaking,

Would it be possible to buy a Valmet and change the stock + barrel/gas system assembly for an AK one, with the proper NR barrel length, and therefore stil have a non-res Valmet with the appearance of a true AK?

I'm sure it would require a fair amount of smith work for the barrel switch, but is it doable?
