Norinco NS522 build: NEW MAG RELEASE

Looking foward to it Father.

I slowly started polishing the bolt but have not done anything for that issue yet as I'm not sure where I can remove material and am too worried to mess up head space.

I will wait for ze update, if it works then I wont have to send er back (unless the groups dont shrink!)

Waitaminute,

Send your rifle back.

After reviewing your pics further It appears your rifle is defective. My mod focuses on another area altogether.

Odd. You have a lemon.

so i have been talking to my brother about adjustable cheek pieces and so had to build one to help get a proper sight alignment. problem with high power optics on a .22

luke. just checked mine in comparison to yours. with mine theres no way that the bolt handle can rotate that far left just past the back of the receiver. mine always travels in a straight line. in fact i dont even have wear marks where you are showing yours t be jamming. its like who ever attached the handle put it slightly too far around. could grind the receiver i guess depending what canammo says

good luck

Good job on the cheek piece Foreign, it will surely look great once you are done refinish the stock. Did you think of any ''cleaner'' thumbwheel?

Sadly my first field report will be another day, we got hit by another snow storm... Will that freakin winter ever end...

i would love a cleaner thumb wheel. but thats the only thing i could find at canadian tire. whole build cost about $2. used the left over lamp "pillars" for the hole. an old hex drive bit for one of the shafts and a ladder hook for the other one. thinking of using some epoxy and casting a thumb wheel around the current bolt. just trying to decide on length at the moment. i didnt want something that you needed an allen key to operate. like everything to be able to be done by hand. i tend to forget tools at home. :)

If that is a 1/4 -20 bolt you can get nice threaded plastic handles in a couple of shapes and sizes at Home Depot in the hardware section. They have these and some three pointed ones that I know of.

luke, mine has the same amount of play in the exact same location, bolt uncocked. I always thought that was normal. My savage has a bit of play as well. My thinking was that in the absense of any lube, the play helps bolt travel, so it doesn't bind as readily. Although too much is not good but that looks normal to me. Mind you I have not owned any premium bolt actions to see the difference. My friend's 700 VTR has similar play when the bolt is disengaged. The Sako's I've felt up at the LGSs have similar feeling bolts just smoother travel.

Mine so far is purely a bench rifle so I don't force the bolt and it cycles well. Not as smooth as many I've cycled but it doesn't catch. It does bind when I try to force the bolt like yours. IMHO at this price point it meets my expectations. I'm sure it would improve if I lap the action a little but that shouldn't be necessary once I get the hBN.

You can see the location of the screw here with the cover off. Be sure to factor in the safety movement before you drill.

Closer....

Silly question: Do you know what's the spacing between the trigger mounting screws?

I'm thinking, since they 'copied' much of this rifle from the Anschutz... I wonder if one of these would fit... 'older' Anschutz 1408 D-U1 trigger (1-3lbs)
