Norinco NS522 build: NEW MAG RELEASE

Have used JB on a few projects and was very happy with the results.
Really like Brownells Acraglass gel. Stays where you put it, non sagging and you have 25-30 min to work with it. Sometimes hard to find thou. I like the regular as well but find it can be a little messy but flows into cracks and crevices/deeper spots well. Also nice for fixing stock cracks and repairing cracked butt plates and trigger guards.

Norinco NS522 build: NEW TRIGGER UPDATE!!!

I used Devcon Steel putty, works like a dream, but since it's a Rimfire, it might be overkill. I had some left vet from a precision centre fire.

There is a great sticky in the gunsmithing section that walks you through bedding. Check it out and some you tube and you will be rocking!

I used a product called bondo-glass, it is meant for autobody repair. it is a thick gel with strands of fiberglass mixed into it. if you don't add too much hardener, it will set up in about 10 minutes. definitely not as hard as an epoxy, and can be removed quite easily if it oozes out on your stock, just get it before it sets up. I think it is similiar to Accra glas, but more difficult to work with due to the long fiberglass strands in it.

First of all, what a wonderful thread! Father, I have very much enjoyed following the progress of your Norinco project thru all 39 pages of this thread (which I have spent most of the day reading). Thanks for posting all of that wonderful stuff! Here in the US, you don't hear much about the NS-522 these days, since they came out here in 1996 or so. Back in those days, they were much discussed on the interwebz, but many of those old threads have disappeared, and not too much new is being said about them here. "Archer Sam" provided a link to this fine site over on RimFire Central, and so here I am. One tip I've found in my research on these fine rifles concerns the trigger spring. Quite a few people in the US have fashioned a lighter replacement trigger spring from an appropiately sized safety pin. Just cut off the big end and bend to the same shape as the original spring. Anyway, a big "Howdy" to all you canadian gun nutz, and I hope you will keep this conversation going!

Kind words, thank you. I cannot take all the credit though, some great folks have helped add alot of valuable tricks to my tinkering.

JB weld, and it is setting right now.
I installed pillers on Monday. I use seamless steel tubbing (brake lines) that are pre flaired.
The flaired ends are the base. On the top upper end I create a cavaty and use JB as a outter ring.
This will connect with the bedding.
We will see in the molrning.

X2 on the brake line. I just found this as well.30" length of 3/8" was only $8. There are different sizes available so you can purchase something close to the bolt size you are using.

I've used steel brake line in the past, too. Easy to cut with a tubing cutter and available in different lengths and diameters. I also like the idea of using the brass lamp nipples. In the US, anyway, lamp nipples are threaded 1/8" pipe thread.

did not do any trigger work, bedding, free floating at all yet. shooing at a bench, front of stock on sandbag

was dialing the new scope at 50 meters:

I don't know.. 'laterally' those 90M pics look pretty awesome to me!
The vertical separation could be just ammo charge variation... I was shooting some cheaper Winchester stuff at 60ish-yds and KNEW I was going to hit low before it even hit the paper on some rounds that felt like they were undercharged, I could feel it! and then some I knew I pulled, but if I pulled it ALWAYS went right....

Finally had a day with light winds, so out to 150 yds we went. All over the place at first, until I started to use the mildots for height, and held off to the right for wind. Lost 2 bullets to the sighter target, and then the wind quit changing, and I started to adjust for it, and presto. Probably unrepeatable, but whatever lol.

TRIGGER SPRING UPDATE.

I thought I had posted this, but it disappeared like so many beers, so I will post it again.

Due to the overwhelming response, I decided to wait until the next order of springs arrives. That way I can send them all out at once.

Any idea how much we need to send you? My brand of beer is both cheap, and here in Ontario, so that's out lol.

Hey guys, I notice both the head and treads of my action bolts are different, is it the same for yours? I know one of you had a slightly bended bolt but they looked the same from the picture.

And am I the only one that would like a over sized bolt knob? After cycling the action over and over to smooth it out, I realized a slightly bigger bolt knob would be much more confortable.
