Avro Anson 3158 RB-Z seen here arrived in South Africa on 14 January 1941. During the War, this aircraft was allocated to 61 Air School in George before being loaned to 44 Air School in Grahamstown.
In 1946, this aircraft was sent to 35 Squadron where it was converted into a non-flying seaplane water taxying handling trainer for the Sunderland Pilots and given the designation code RB-Z. This aircraft was based at AFS Congella in Durban for the period 1946-1947 before being withdrawn from service.
