The NEW KING does not seek "justification" The NEW KING simply *IS*

ALL HAIL THE NEW KING

Forgive me for asking, but precisely who are you trying to convince with this endless " King " nonsense ??
As good as you think the Ruger is and as good as sales are for it,some people are still going to buy a 375 H&H be it new or used.
The Holland and Holland cartridges whether they be 300 or 375 have a devoted following and a mystique that the 375 Ruger will likely never achieve regardless of whatever "good" features it has or how many different guns it might be found in.
As I've said before....To each their own... :)

My choice, if it was a point in question, has been made. Far be it for me to deviate from what's proven to be "Time tested & true", but, without that aspect of experimentation, where would we be?? I applaud experimentation and the resulting development of new cartridges. Some succeed and some fall by the wayside. Again, the 'proof of the pudding' will be time but I see little, if any, advantage of the 375 Ruger over the 375 H&H. Marketing ploy appears to be the governing factor.

Not trying to convince anyone, I am simply stating FACT;)

Nostalgia is not a criteria for *KING* status....
:p

And it would just bead right off the urine-repellent stock.

But alas, thanks to Ardent, I am soon to join the HH club.

So you're the guy that beat me to it! Proves the saying "he who hesitates is lost".:)

I hd one of those rifles...Good rifle, but too heavy for a .375. And the backwards safety drove me nuts:p

I am sure you will enjoy it, that was an excellent deal!

Historically, and by virtue of a proven and successful long reign, the 1st 375 'King' and still holding that title,
the 375 H&H
Down the road, his possible successor and presently his #1 'Lieutenant', the 378 Weatherby. The remainder of the 375 'family', merely subordinate 'subjects';).

Ok thats fine, but over and over and over(ad nauseum) ??
That reminds me of a certain religious following whose members go door-to-door and will not take NO for an answer until same door slams them in the face...

:p

I didn't mean to imply that it was because I dont think "king" status as such exists in this case.
Having compared both side by side, I think "king" status exists in your mind only.... :p:

This thread has 850 posts.......Most of my posts are just repeating the same thing- And yet people are still responding and posting!!!

Even though I like the cartridge, the most interesting thing is that people KEEP GETTING HOOKED! ;)

Having compared both side by side, it's very clear that the NEW KING is the superior cartridge.:dancingbanana:

I've said it before but it bears repeating- If the .375 H&H was introduced today, it would look like the .375 Ruger.

;)

Isn't that what I said ???

No, you asked a question.... I made a statement. Here, I will help you with what I actually said, not just your little snippet:

I've hesitated more than a few times and regretted it. When you see an ad that makes you instantly develop a cold sweat while you try to figure out a way to justify it to the treasurer, you know what you need to do. It starts with "I'll" and ends with "take it."

I have a little model 2 so I am familiar with the backwards safety issue. I am not bothered by such things - I still occasionally open my sock drawer looking for underwear.

And I'm sure I will appreciate the heft when I try it out at my range with its ridiculously small benches (that you must shoot from) that force you to hunch down around the gun. I can almost feel it.
