The Templar Thread, 5.56 by Crusader Arms / Spectre LTD

From Crusader Arms on Instagram, some Black Friday incentive for those who want to buy a Templar to "Honor" Trudeau actually including Crusader by name in the upcoming list (or so rumor has it). I wonder if the serial "FrackBill22" would work? :p

Excited for the arrival of my own Templar!
One bad ass piece of kit!
My money went to hard working Canadians, who make a quality product at a fair price.
Made in Canada matters!
Thank you Crusader/Spectre team

Had to wait a while for the Hoser Gun Guy's review, but it is extensive, with between 1800 and 1900 rounds through the gun.

Not too much in the way of new information in that review, aside from the validation of reliability up to 2K rounds. He clearly hasn't followed the development of the Templar, calling the medium-contour barrel an "HBAR" and noting under his "cons" that the Barrel is too heavy and should be thinned down to a "Pencil" profile. The manufacturer has already stated in numerous forums that they first tried a Pencil Barrel (as did Sterling Arms Int'l with the R18 Mk2), but that excessive Barrel-whip and a "wandering" zero when hot forced the use of a heavier profile. So one of his 3 primary "cons' isn't a con at all - it was a deliberate design decision based on acceptable accuracy.

Aside from that, his findings are pretty consistent with my own insofar as the Templar is concerned. It is a competent evolution of the WS-MCR design, updated and upgraded for the Canadian sporting firearms market.

Too bad C21 will ban it if passed.... which just goes to show the inherent hypocracy of the Lieberal Party anti-firearms ideology. First they ban the AR15, so Canadian manufacturers develop a NR-compliant alternative sporting rifle.... which the Lieberals openly encourage, only to promptly ban the AR180B design once it is developed! On top of that, they seal the deal with an all-encompassing "evergreen" ban on all center-fire, semi-automatic firearms with a detchable magazine potentially capable of holding more than 5 rounds. Brutal.

So I’m assuming Crusader will reach out to those who purchased rifles after the fact to verify firearms licences.

Their checkout process doesn’t seem to require any pedigree PAL information which is somewhat surprising.

I thought the point of that position for the bolt release was that you could hit it with your thumb of your trigger hand, no?

The only issue I had with my Sentinel is now fixed. With the factory MFT stock it would retract one notch every shot. Swapped in a Fab Defense stock and no longer an issue.

Has anyone been having trouble getting ahold of crusader arms recently ? I’ve sent them a few emails over the last week and haven’t heard anything. I also tried messaging them on Instagram too. Just seems odd because they were answering sometimes within the hour now it’s seems impossible to talk to them.

Has anyone’s order shipped or heard anything from them since Black Friday sale?

I suspect more of a delay in a response is going to the norm from any semi-auto seller and manufacturer as they try and make hay while the sun shines. Try the on Instagram; it will even show there if they are online on that platform.

Yes, they are basically a new start-up machine shop with two product lines - the Templar and the slightly earlier Sentinel 9mm/.223 cal multi-cal conversion kit.

I guess the Sentinel is a thing of the past, that's why they have the Templar now.

Fly by business in my opinion. Let's try to get parts 5 years down the road, good luck.

I stick with my SL8.

It's the same shop that was making the WS MCR getting out from under Wolverines thumb.

I would say that Spectre LTD is a mature if smaller weapons factorum now expanding to a larger in Canada footprint and making its first U.S. branch, and at the same time being a young distributor as Crusader, with growing pains to be had in both. How Spectre/Crusader handles issues will ultimately determine its fate.

Gunzone, Crusader's retail partner in the U.S., ordered a run of FDE Templars, as posted about here on Instagram, https://www.instagram.com/p/CmxWYtXrYri/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link.

There was some interest shown from Canadian commentators. I contacted Spectre Steve through Instagram, and he has indicated they will be doing a Canadian pre-order of FDE Templar's, likely posting a retail URL tomorrow. When I see an Instagram post on that, I will link to it here.
