My CIL model 402 just arrived in the mail, barrel will be cut down tomorrow after work and we'll see if I want to pistol grip it after that.
Pretty excited, my first foray into gun bubba-ry.
What type hacksaw blades are you guys using?
Bought 18 teeth/inch Bi-Metal blades, the father inlaw told me I was crazy to attempt anything under 32...
You are crazy, you should be using a 32 tooth blade. If you do not know anything about hack saws do some research. For a hack saw to cut properly you must have a minimum of 2-3 teeth in contact with the work for it to cut and not make a mess. especially when you get to 2 contact surfaces cutting through the tube.
Use a tube or pipe cutter or take it to a smith to put in a lathe.
*Oh P.S. maybe you should start listening to your father in-law, he obviously knows better than you.
And you don't need to notify CFC about these changes.
Here's an official list of what has to be reported to CFC:
- any modification to the firearm that affects its classification (non-restricted, restricted, prohibited);
- any modification that results in the firearm ceasing to be a firearm;
- any change to a frame or receiver that allows it to discharge ammunition;
- any modification in the type, action, calibre or gauge of the firearm; and
- any modifcation to an altered automatic firearm.

His barrel is 18" and his over all length is about 26 1/2"
The Law puts a limit on size and he is just at/ above that limit.
